Nutrition Therapy may be covered when provided by a licensed nutritionist (LDN) and prescribed/referred by a physician for “medical nutrition therapy.”

I will provide you with a superbill, an itemized form reflecting services for you to submit to insurance for reimbursement.

Medicare

Medicare is now covering counseling services for diabetes, preventive care/wellness visit and obesity only.

The procedure for submittal of the claim is the same as above.

When signing up for Medicare, you are allowed a free wellness visit up to $250.

Any portion of the visit can be allocated for nutritional services if accompanied with a doctor’s prescription with the words “wellness visit.”
