I will help you make practical and sustainable changes specifically addressing your issues through a healthy lifestyle. It is my mission to equip and motivate you with the nutrition knowledge you need to live a healthy, balanced and productive life. You’ll experience optimal health and wellness when your body functions are in balance. In our fast-paced, convenience focused lifestyle, we are faced with many obstacles that take us off course from this path—our lifestyle, the quality of the foods we eat, and the continual changes our bodies’ experience over time are a few.

Supporting your unique nutritional needs allows your body to function effectively and efficiently and to maintain a balanced state of health and wellness.

In general, people do not feel their best; their bodies don’t work well and their metabolism is out of balance. What you put in your mouth directly affects how you feel. Nothing is neutral; the right foods promote vitality, energy and wellness. The wrong foods promote inflammation, infection and chronic disease.

I encourage a whole foods lifestyle, rich in nutrient dense foods while eliminating processed and artificial ingredients. This lifestyle provides the fuel to naturally bring your body into synergy and balance.

Clinical nutrition addresses the interrelationships between foods and nutrients and considers the biochemical effects they have on actual body functions, such as gastrointestinal function, sugar metabolism, immune system function and brain function.

A clinical nutritionist:

  •  Understands the complex interrelationship between nutrition and the biochemistry of the human body. Although human bodies are all similar, we are all biochemically unique, which means we have unique nutritional needs as well.
  • Assesses your nutritional needs while considering chronic health disturbances, and defines an individualized nutritional program designed to achieve your health and wellness goals.
  • Considers nutrition beyond calories, food groups and food pyramids in defining an individual nutrition protocol. A nutritional protocol may include food additions, food eliminations, food preparation guidelines, supplemental nutrient support and lifestyle modifications.

Ideally, nutritional therapy aims to prevent chronic disease or slowdown/stop the progression.

Fast-paced lifestyles are leading to an array of poor dietary choices and chronically stressful lives. Today’s society is filled with people who are overfed and undernourished. They are not only seeking advice, but solutions to their health issues and concerns

My nutritional awakening began when I was pregnant with my first child with the idea that whatever I ate, my child would also eat. The basic nutritional guidance I received included avoiding alcohol, ingesting lots of dairy and taking a prenatal vitamin. I know now that prenatal nutrition involves much more!

As my nutritional IQ increased over the years, I chose to decline the maintenance antibiotic and ear tubes recommended for my third child’s chronic ear infections. Rather, my 7 month-old son and I went on an elimination diet. Success proved quick as the fluid in his ears dried up within two weeks, never to plague him again. Personally, I’ve successfully dealt with high cholesterol, high blood glucose levels as well as gastro-intestinal and mood issues through nutrition.

My passion for using nutrition to affect wellbeing blossomed into a career. Using both my formal education and life experiences, I share my knowledge with clients to help them experience the benefits of nutritional therapy.

I have been studying the science of nutrition and living a whole foods lifestyle for more than 20 years. Formally, I hold a Masters of Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport, a Masters in Business Administration from the Northwestern Kellogg School of Management, and a Bachelors of Science in Biology from the University of Illinois. I am a Board Certified Clinical Nutritionist (CCN), Board Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS), and an Illinois Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN).
